Bedroom With Linen Bedding - The RH Effect

I have always been in love with the look of linen bedding. The effortless creasing, weight and texture gives such an elegant yet organic look. However, I certainly have not been in love with the price tag of linen bedding. Starting around $400 (for just a sheet set) from many of the larger name brands, making the switch to linen was out of the question. Then I found Quince!

About Quince

If you’ve never heard of Quince, they are an online retailer specializing in factory direct products, where the middlemen in the shopping process are removed from the equation. But what exactly does that mean? It means you’re not paying for a brand name, the marketing costs, and any other markups in the traditional retail supply chain. Quince sources the best of the best factories around the world to produce their high-quality goods and only works with sustainable & fair-wage factories! (You can read more about the brand and their values here). Did I mention that the factories they work with also produce goods for well-known luxury brands?

Quince produces products in the Women’s, Men’s and Home categories with home goods such as rugs, bedding, curtains and towels. With so much to choose from, everyone is sure to find something they love on their website. Before this year, the factory-direct business model was completely foreign to me. But after finding a company like Quince, I can’t imagine not going this route! Saving money on amazing quality products while supporting a company with great values? Sounds like a win, win, win to me! Now, onto the bedding!

Quince Linen Bedding

Quince was kind enough to send me a linen bedding set to sample and review but that in no way changes/ affects my opinion of the product. When I tell you though that this bedding changed my life, I am not exaggerating. There is such a luxe weight to the bedding that hugs your body. It’s warm without being too hot (this is coming from the sweatiest sleeper out there). And at the same time, it somehow feels like air is circulating throughout – I specifically noticed how cool my feet stayed under this bedding! After the first night of sleeping in it, my husband and I texted the entire day about how unreal it was. Maybe we’re just easily impressed (but probably not because the bedding IS unreal).

As with any new bedding, I went ahead and washed everything before putting it on the bed (check out my linen care guide here). Everything held up perfectly, came out so soft, and honestly I think the colors of the fabric looked even better than they did before washing! I’ve also loved how well the fabric has maintained the scent of the detergent. After a week, it still smelled fresh out the washer!

Quince Linen Bedding

creating a luxurious, layered bed

Last year, I saw a bedding combo in the Restoration Hardware Ski House sourcebook and was instantly obsessed with it. The black and tan combo was moody yet cozy and I knew I wanted to try to recreate the vibe.

To get the look, I used the Quince European Linen Sheet Set in Sand as my base, folding down the top seam fairly far down the bed (at least a third of the bed). Then, on top I used the Quince European Linen Duvet Cover in Charcoal. Pro-tip, if you want more of a fluffy, “cloud look” duvet, try using an insert a size larger than the size of your cover! Many people also double up on inserts to achieve a fuller look but again, very sweaty sleeper here. So, I went with an oversized king down alternative insert to put inside my king size duvet cover. I then folded the top of the duvet cover down about halfway. This gives a little peak-a-boo of the sheet color while also adding volume in the mid-section of the bed. For added height in the back, I used three 22” x 22” pillows. They were just the ones that came with our couch but I loved how the color/ texture of them looked with the rest of the bedding. To finish it off, I added 2 patterned lumbar pillows and a super cozy throw blanket (this one is an exact Pottery Barn dupe).

I have been so in love with the look of this bedding that I have actually been motivated to fully make the bed every morning (this is huge). But, nothing compares to how much I love the feel of the set. I’ve found myself going to bed earlier and earlier each day just so I can bask in the glory of the linen.

To sum it up, you have to check out Quince’s bedding ASAP! They offer so many beautiful colors (even patterns) as well as other popular fabrics such as percale, sateen, bamboo and silk. Besides the perk of saving money, you will not be disappointed in the amazing quality. If the information above hasn’t sold you yet though, check out the price breakdown below comparing Quince to other popular bedding brands!
